Reading is unbeatably one of the best activities you, as a parent, can do with your child in their early years. Not only is it a fantastic bonding exercise, it also helps your child to understand the world and social interactions and helps expand their vocabulary and cognitive skills. It is never too early to start reading to your child. Even babies just a few months old are able to benefit from reading, as listening to your voice and cuddling with you promotes curiosity.

Not only do we carefully select the best books for your child, we also provide a Tips Sheet for each book we send you to show you how to maximise your reading time. On this sheet we will explain why we selected the book, how it benefits your child and guide you through the optimal way to read the book. For older children, we also provide Further Learning questions to go through with your child after the book to really challenge them!

The Tip Sheets can be especially useful for parents who feel awkward or embarrassed reading to babies. We understand that how to read confidently to a child is not a skill you are usually taught, so we’re here to help.

Baby Books
(0-1 years)

A lot of parents don’t realise that reading books with your baby under 1 years of age is highly beneficial to their development. Whereas talking to your baby is good for bonding and introducing your baby to the concept of language, it’s through frequent reading of the right books that allows you to actively help your baby make connections between words, images, textures and colours.

Toddler Books
(1-3 years)

At this age, your child has started to speak and learn basic words. Our experts will send you books to help expand your child’s vocabulary and to introduce them to simple sentences. Your child will enjoy the variety of story, rhymes, games, touch and movement books, whilst actively learning about the world around them and developing their language skills.

Nursery Books
(4-5 years)

By now your child has a good basic vocabulary and are able to communicate with you in simple sentences. Our goal now is to expand these skills and provide them with an advantage when starting school. We will send you books which will achieve this goal by introducing and explaining more complex situations and interactions, and continuing to build their vocabulary.
